A leading ethical campaigner has called for drivers to take better notice of Britain’s cycling community.
Richard George, who works for the organisation Campaign for Better Transport, has claimed that motorists are guilty of not respecting the vulnerability of the UK’s cyclists.
Mr George believes that many careless vehicle operators cause cyclists to feel threatened whilst out on the roads, and that Britain’s transport network should be ‘more bike-friendly.’
A recent study by the University of Surrey revealed that the number of cyclists admitted to hospital following road accidents over a decade is significantly higher than the number of motorists. More than 44,000 two-wheeled road users were hospitalised between 1994 and 2004, compared to around 34,000 of their four-wheel counterparts.
Cyclists are also more vulnerable to serious personal injury, due the lack of protection surrounding them compared to cars. However, they are often reluctant to pursue accident compensation claims because many cyclists believe their transport choice means they were at fault.
At Claims Solicitors, we can offer you specialist support in making accident claims for a bicycle accident. It is important that you take the details not only of the other party involved, but also of any witnesses to the incident as they could provide essential details to strengthen your case.
Even if you are unsure whether your accident claims will be successful, at Claims Solicitors we operate on a no win no fee basis, so that you don’t have to worry about financial outgoings on top of your personal injury problems.
