Our team of no win, no fee solicitors are well-versed in the field of injuries caused by animals and are on hand to pass on the benefit of their wide ranging experience to you.
If you have suffered an injury caused by an animal you may be able to claim compensation from the owner of the animal or its keeper. The most common kinds of animal accidents are dog bites and those caused by farm animals straying on to a road. However claims for injuries caused by animals are not always straightforward for example in the case of a dog bite that there has to be proof of a history of bad behaviour before you could take action against the owner.
For more information on dog bites see our dog bite law page
Generally the owner or keeper of any animal is responsible for their behaviour, but there have been several test cases relating to liability and to find out if you may be able to make a successful injury claim against them you must take advice from a solicitor who is expert in the field of injuries caused by animals. A good example of this was a case at The Court of Appeal in June 2006 relating to a traffic accident was caused by a horse being ridden on the roads. The Appeal judgement overturned previous case law on the point of whether or not a rider can predict a horse's behaviour.

Miss T was attacked and bitten by a neighbour's dog. She was badly bitten and was left with permanent scarring on her forearm and some initial psychological difficulties, but the neighbour strongly denied responsibility. Although not categorised as a "dangerous dog" in law, we were able to prove that the neighbour was liable because the dog had a history of biting people and it was not controlled properly. Miss T received £5,500 in compensation.
