A factory worker from West Yorkshire is set to receive a £15,000 compensation award shortly after a solicitor from Davies and Company / Claims Solicitors successfully handled his claim.
Mr Ali suffered burns and flash injuries after an explosion caused by using a blow torch to open a metal cage that contained inflammable chemical products.
Mr Ali's solicitor successfully proved that his employers were at fault because the system to open these cages was inherently unsafe, that he hadn't received appropriate training, and that he did not have suitable protective equipment.
As well as admitting liability for the accident in March 2007 the company has recently been taken to Court by the Health and Safety Executive and fined £4000 on each of three counts of negligence as well as being ordered to pay £6900 in costs.
Unfortunately Mr Ali still suffers from psychological symptoms, including nightmares and flash backs. Although he continues to remain in employment with the company he has been unable to return to work to date.
Imran Salim, Mr Ali's solicitor, commented: "We handle a large number of work injury claims however few leave the mental scars that his one has caused. Mr Ali remains very fearful and nervous and it remains to be seen if he will ever be able to return to his place of work."
